I’m sitting down to a cup of coffee on a beautiful autumn morning in Sun Valley, Idaho. The view from my window in the historic Lodge is breathtaking—a riot of color in the trees, against the majesty of the surrounding hills and mountains. I’m tempted to extend my stay, even though I have to get back on track for my book tour.
From the room down the hall where Earnest Hemingway completed For Whom The Bell Tolls, to the woods where Clark Gable could be found hunting and fishing, the whole town has captured my imagination. I’ve seen celebrities treated like locals, and I myself have felt completely at home everywhere I go.
Making notes about the colors and shadows of the mountains, as well as the vibrant life within this town, has taken more time than I expected. There is so much to see and to and experience, and I wanted to capture it all.
Even though I’ll be back on the road tomorrow, there is one discovery that I plan to take with me. On being serve a cup of coffee, I had to ask what I was drinking, it was that good. I’ve been drinking the Sun Valley Blend every morning since. The beautiful combination of Columbian, Kenyan and Sumatran coffees seems to embody this place, and I can’t wait to wake up to it every morning. And to think this coffee was roasted in Boise, Idaho.
